Oddworld Abe's Oddysee



Most games fall into one of two categories: those that are nothing more than clones and those that improve upon what's come before them. GT Interactive's Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee counts among the latter, continuing the tradition of intelligent and enjoyable platform games established by Prince of Persia and Flashback. You play a slave named Abe, who works at the meat-processing plant Rupture Farms. Abe's a Mudokon, a gangly, orange-eyed, green-skinned creature with a samurai's tuft of hair and the posture of an ape - hardly your typically cute platform hero. The premise is that the factory's owners have found a tasty new treat to whip into production since they ran their last "dish" into extinction. The problem is the new entrée is you. Or more precisely, the Mudokons. When an eavesdropping Abe finds this out, he starts ham-stepping stage left right quick (proving that curiosity can save the cat, too). Your goal, as Abe, is to escape Rupture Farms, liberating as many fellow Mudokons as possible, finding a way to bring down the plant once and for all. Using the limited vocabulary set, Abe must convince the Mudokons to follow him to safety, all the while racing through the factory flipping switches, avoiding obstacles, evading heavily armed guards, and staying alive.

Oddworld Abe's Exoddus




At a glance, Abe's Exoddus appears identical to the first game, which means it looks fantastic - in both senses of the word. Abe's enemies are brilliantly conceived, and somehow manage to be both menacing and comical at the same time. His old foes are back, such as the mean-spirited machine gun toting Sligs and the spider-like Paramites, but new threats abound. The most dangerous of these include flying Sligs, with propellers for rear ends and a limitless supply of grenades, and the unassuming, amorphous Fleeches that can swallow Abe whole with the flick of a four-foot tongue. All of these, Abe himself included, are smoothly animated and very life-like. Unfortunately, they all appear a little too pixelated when set against the high-resolution backgrounds. The scenery itself is richly colored and detailed, occasionally even to a fault, as certain areas look too busy or too cluttered. Still, if you're observant, you'll quickly get a good sense of how to get through any given area. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Abe's fellow Mudokons, a race imprisoned by the wicked Glukkons and forced into hard labor in their nefarious brewery. Many of Abe's pals in Exoddus have been brutally blinded; you'll need to guide them to safety with your voice, by telling them to stop and go as necessary. Having to see for the blind is just one of many different puzzle elements in Abe's Exoddus, making parts of the game feel like Psygnosis' classic Lemmings. In fact, there's a lot of talking to be done throughout the game. You'll need to talk down angry or depressed Mudokons. Abe can mind-control just about anything, so long as one of those pesky head-zapping devices isn't around to keep him from trying. In an interesting if rather tasteless touch, he can even assume control of his own explosive flatulence, and he'll need to use this newfangled technique to detonate mines or other hazards from afar. Once you mind-control one, you can make a Slig open voice-recognition doors with the proper series of curses and chortles. And if you manage to get into the head of one of the square-shouldered, ill-tempered Glukkons, you can coerce any Sligs in the area to follow your every command.

Raccoon City is the very picture of the perfect American City. Umbrella Incorperation’s involvement has kickstarted much economic growth in the city though. Recently, there has been a smear on the city’s reputation. Suspicious murders have been taking place in the forests and mountains surrounding the city. S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team had been previously sent in to investigate the menace. Contact was lost shortly after they headed in. The day after, S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team was sent in to follow them and to find their team mates. They only found the crashed helicopter, a mauled corpse inside.While investigating the area for signs of the rest of Bravo, they were ambushed by a pack of the monsters responsible for the deaths of civilian and Bravo pilot. Outnumbered, disoriented, Alpha team takes cover in an old abandoned mansion. They discovered something else entirely - the inhabitants of this mansion weren’t what they expected…

Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance



Konami's re-release of the popular Metal Gear Solid 2 title, on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC, expands gameplay with added options, and features. The largest addition to gameplay are the over 200 fun and challenging VR missions split between four specific modes-- Sneaking mode, Weapon mode, First Person View mode, and Variety mode. In addition to VR missions, Alternative missions have also been included; allowing players to test their skills in Bomb Disposal mode, Photograph mode, Hold Up mode, and Elimination mode. Marc Ecko's Getting Up Contents Under Pressure




Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure combines combat, action, adventure and stealth as the main character, Trane, sets out to prove that he's the best graffiti artist around. It's really not that easy, however, as the game features something called, "Get In, Get Up, and Get Out". Gamers will need to use stealth in order to "get in" to restricted areas, dexterity and agility in order to scale tall objects to "get up", and the ability to think on your feet as you run from the powers that be in order to "get out". The city of New Radius is a living character in Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure; it sets the tone and offers the thematic boundaries that oppress Trane from the opening cinematic to the dramatic conclusion.
